Ageratum houstonianum, commonly known as Floss Flower, is a small and bushy shrub that produces “fluffy”, purple flowers from summer through autumn. These are held above the green foliage and provide a lovely display. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 1 m wide, growing best on a well-drained soil in full sun with wind protection. Ageratum houstonianum is commonly used in border plantings, added to mixed plantings, maintained in a container, included in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas. Some of the best displays with this plant are when it is mass planted on a bank or the like.
