Actaea racemosa, commonly known as the Cohosh Plant, is an herbaceous perennial grown for its impressive flowers and foliage. This herbaceous perennial produces scented, bottlebrush-like, white flowers on long and slender stems which rise above the foliage from summer through autumn. The foliage comprises lush, deep green leaves which provide a great backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 70 cm tall and the same wide, performing best in full sun on a well-drained site with good summer moisture. It is tolerant of light frost, coastal environments, and partial shade though in this instance leaf colouring will be less intense. Actaea racemosa is commonly used in borders, mixed plantings, grown in a container, used in cottage gardens, or planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs.
