Achillea 'Anthea'

How to grow Achillea 'Anthea' in NZ

Achillea 'Anthea' grows best in a sunny position with well drained soil. It performs well in a wide range of soil types, including poorer soils, provided drainage is good. Water regularly during establishment, then only during extended dry periods. Full sun encourages strong growth and prolific flowering. Adding compost before planting can assist establishment, but overly rich soils may result in softer growth and fewer flowers.

Achillea 'Anthea' care tips

Achillea 'Anthea' is easy to maintain once established. Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming and keep plants looking tidy. Apply a light dressing of balanced fertiliser during spring if required. Water during prolonged dry periods, but avoid excessively wet conditions. Dividing mature clumps every few years helps maintain vigour and flowering performance. Regular deadheading and occasional grooming will keep plants healthy and attractive.

Achillea 'Anthea' size, spacing, and growth rate

Achillea 'Anthea' typically grows to around 60 to 80 centimetres tall and 50 to 70 centimetres wide. It has a moderate growth rate and forms attractive clumps over time. Space plants approximately 50 to 60 centimetres apart to allow for mature growth and airflow. Its upright habit and soft coloured flowers make it an excellent choice for mixed borders, cottage gardens, and naturalistic plantings.

Landscaping uses for Achillea 'Anthea'

Achillea 'Anthea' is ideal for cottage gardens, perennial borders, meadow style plantings, and pollinator friendly landscapes. The soft yellow flowers combine beautifully with ornamental grasses and other flowering perennials. It can be planted in groups for a natural effect or used as a feature within mixed plantings. The flowers are also excellent for cutting and can be used in fresh or dried floral arrangements.
