Commonly known as Queen Palm, this is a medium-sized Palm Tree grown for its impressive form and foliage. Large and lacy, arching, mid green fronds are borne off a single trunk. Adding additional interest to this tree are the small flowers produced in summer which result in clusters of orange fruits in autumn. It grows quickly to reach 15 m tall with a spread of 8 m, performing best when planted on a well-drained site in full sun. This is a hardy plant that will tolerate light frosts, coastal environments, dry periods, and moderate wind. The Queen Palm is commonly used in tropical gardens, grown as a specimen, used in avenue plantings, or added to a mixed planting. This is a popular ornamental tree favoured by landscape designers and is great for bringing an architectural element to a garden.
