Rhopalostylis sapida Great Barrier Details

Rhopalostylis sapida Great Barrier is an attractive NZ native Palm tree. From a central trunk it produces broad fronds that are upright with a gentle arch. They are rich green, handsome, and enable it to grow to about 12 m tall with a spread of 4 m. Cascades of small flowers in summer result in fruits that are green at first but ripen to a bright red in autumn. These are great for attracting birds. This Palm grows best when planted in partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site that is frost free. It will take a light frost once established and does require good levels of soil moisture during dry periods. Rhopalostylis sapida Great Barrier is very popular and perfect for sub-tropical gardens, mixed plantings, or growing as a specimen.
