Macrozamia communis Details

Macrozamia communis, commonly known as Burrawang Cycad, is a large Cycad native to Australia and is popular due to its elegant fronds and tidy form. It produces a dense crown of slender, dark green fronds which arch gracefully. They are borne off a sturdy trunk as it grows to 3 m tall and the same wide. This evergreen grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, extended dry periods, and coastal environments but will benefit from being protected while it establishes. Macrozamia communis is commonly planted around outdoor living areas, grown as a specimen, used in tropical gardens, or planted to border an entrance. It also makes for an excellent container plant though be careful not to over-water as this can cause root rot issues.
