Archontophoenix purpurea, commonly known as the Mt Lewis King Palm Tree, is a tall and slender Palm from Australia. It carries elegant and lush, mid-green fronds, and will rapidly reach 12 m tall and 5 m wide. The trunk has a distinctive, long, purple, crown shaft. It grows best in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site, and will tolerate light frost only as well as sites with heavy soils.
