Liriope 'Amethyst' Details

Liriope muscari ‘Amethyst’ is grown for its lovely flowers and tidy foliage. This herbaceous perennial grows as a tidy clump and produces strap like, dark green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the spikes of purple flowers in summer. The flowers are long lasting and blend wonderfully with the foliage. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It tolerates cool climates, moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. During winter it may die back in colder regions to regrow in spring when conditions warm, but otherwise it remains evergreen. Liriope ‘Amethyst’ is an excellent choice for container growing, rock and cottage gardens, or border planting. It looks amazing when nestled amongst groundcover plants or smaller shrubs and gives the most impressive displays when mass planted on a bank or the like.
