Commonly known as Sea Rush, this is a species of rush that prevails in coastal areas. It has long and rigid leaves that are lime-green in colour and can reach 1.2 m in length. Yellow flowers complement the plant in summer. This plant has an extensive root system which enables it to survive in harsh environments. It grows best in full sun or partial shade and will tolerate a wide range of soil and environmental conditions. It typically grows to 1.2 m tall and 60 cm wide, but will colonise a larger area with time. It is commonly used for wetland revegetation and is ideal for a coastal planting.
