Commonly known as Bull Rush, this NZ native grass features stout, mid-green foliage. In cold or exposed climates the foliage often takes on bronze tones. Light brown flower heads are borne amidst the foliage in summer and provide additional interest to this plant. It typically grows to 70 cm tall and 1 m wide but will colonise a larger area over time with its spreading roots. This is a very hardy plant that prefers damp or wet soils and a full sun position. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, wind, poor soils, coastal climates, and dry periods. This Bull Rush is perfect for planting in wet areas, using in coastal plantings, including in a mixed planting or border, or mass planting either as a groundcover or on a bank. This is a very hardy grass that will grow almost anywhere.
