Zamioculcas 'Black Knight'

How to grow Zamioculcas 'Black Knight' in NZ

Grow Zamioculcas 'Black Knight' in bright indirect light, using quality indoor potting mix with good drainage. Use a pot with drainage holes and position it away from cold draughts, heaters, and harsh direct sun. Water after planting and allow excess water to drain completely. Keep conditions warm and stable. Check the mix before watering again and adjust moisture to the season rather than following a fixed schedule. Check moisture regularly as the new roots settle into their surroundings.

Zamioculcas 'Black Knight' care tips

Care for Zamioculcas 'Black Knight' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Check the potting mix regularly and water when the surface begins to dry, allowing excess water to drain. Feed lightly during spring and summer using a suitable indoor plant fertiliser. Remove tired leaves and check for scale or mealybugs. Keep the foliage away from cold glass and draughts, and reduce watering when growth slows in winter.

Zamioculcas 'Black Knight' size, spacing, and growth rate

Zamioculcas 'Black Knight' typically reaches about 60 cm tall and 40 cm wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 40 cm between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Choose a container that supports the roots without excessive unused wet mix, and leave space around the display for airflow. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.
