Commonly known as String of Bananas, this is a succulent grown for its interesting, banana shaped foliage. It produces masses of the dark green shaped leaves held off trailing stems. The stems can reach 60 cm in length. Small, white flowers are sometimes borne during summer. It grows best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of dry periods but must be protected from frost. String of Bananas is commonly grown indoors as a potted plant or grown outdoors in sub-tropical climates and allowed to trail over a wall or container. Be sure not to over-water this plant.
