Schefflera arboricola Hong Kong is an evergreen shrub commonly grown as a houseplant due to its attractive and variegated foliage. It features glossy leaves that are green with yellow splotches, and the leaflets are in a fan arrangement. Yellow flowers in spring are produced along 20 cm stems but are often not produced when grown indoors. Outdoors it will grow to about 5 m tall and 3 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Indoors, it is normally contained to 1 m tall and the same wide. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site protected from frost. Schefflera Hong Kong is commonly grown as a potted plant, added to tropical gardens, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is well suited for bordering an entrance and can be used for bonsai.
