Schefflera arboricola is an evergreen shrub commonly grown as a houseplant. The foliage is mid green, glossy, and comprises multiple, large leaflets in a fan arrangement. Flowers in spring are produced along a 20 cm stem but are often not produced when grown indoors. Outdoors it will grow to about 1 m tall and the same wide, though can be trimmed as necessary. Indoors, it is contained to any desired size. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site protected from frost. This plant is commonly grown as a potted plant, added to tropical gardens, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is well suited for bordering an entrance and can be used for bonsai.
