The Radermachera sinica plant, commonly known as the Chinese Doll Plant, is an evergreen shrub grown for its impressive foliage. This subtropical plant produces glossy, dark green foliage with a lacy appearance. The foliage is truly outstanding and is carried on slender stems. The flowers are white, trumpet-like, and produced in summer. Because this plant is often grown indoors as a potted plant the flowers are rarely seen. When grown outdoors, the Chinese Doll Plant can reach upwards to 6 m tall and 3 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered, frost free site in full sun or partial shade. Radermachera sinica is commonly grown as a potted plant, added to a tropical garden, or included in a mixed planting in a sub-tropical climate. It looks great when planted beside an entranceway or around an outdoor living area.
