Hoya compacta, commonly known as the Hindu Rope plant, is commonly grown as an indoor plant. It produces fleshy, leaves with distinct curves that are held densely on trailing stems. During summer the plants will often produce showy clusters of waxy, pink flowers with a red centre. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and will trail to 50 cm or more. Best performance with this plant is achieved when positioned in indirect light or partial shade in a sheltered position with a well-drained growing media. Over-watering will damage this plant as will frost, cold temperatures, and drafty positions. Hoya carnosa compacta is commonly grown indoors in an office or the like where a fresh, delightful, and elegant plant is required. It can also be grown outdoors in favourable environments.
