Ficus elastica Melany is a popular indoor plant owing to its rich and colourful foliage. The large and glossy leaves are glossy and dark green with a burgundy overtone are held off a solitary stem. It typically grows to 80 cm tall and 50 cm wide, performing best when grown in indirect light with a well-drained growing media. It will not grow well in cool or drafty spaces and will fail if it repeatedly overwatered or exposed to frost. Ficus elastica Melany is commonly grown as a potted plant in offices and in the home. In subtropical climates it is often planted around pools and other outdoor living areas, maintained in a container, or included in tropical themed gardens.
