Cyanotis somaliensis Details

Cyanotis somaliensis, commonly known as the Kittens Ears Plant, is an evergreen perennial grown for its soft-looking and colourful foliage. Trailing stems host small green leaves that have a fury edge and are held densely. Clusters of mauve-coloured flowers are produced in summer and add extra interest to an already lovely plant. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 40 cm wide, and performs best when grown in partial shade (indirect light) with a well-drained growing media and protected from frost. It is not tolerant of cold or drafty positions. Cyanotis somaliensis is commonly grown as a potted plant indoors and is well suited to office environments. It can be grown outdoors where conditions favour, and in these circumstances, it suits being planted around outdoor living areas, mass planted as a groundcover, planted to trail over a wall or to spill out over steps, included in tropical or rock gardens, or simply maintained in a container.
