Key Features of Calathea Freddie (Calathea concinna)

Calathea Freddie stands out for its bright green, lance-shaped leaves accented with deep green zebra-like stripes, creating a lively and tropical appearance. It typically grows up to 25–30 cm tall, making it perfect for desks, shelves, and smaller indoor spaces. This plant is non-toxic to pets and children, making it a safe option for family homes. Calathea Freddie thrives in low to medium indirect light and high humidity, making it ideal for bathrooms or warm, humid rooms. As a bonus, it also acts as a natural air purifier, contributing to a healthier indoor environment while elevating your interior décor.

Calathea Freddie care guide

Calathea Freddie prefers a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light—avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the patterned leaves. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy by watering when the top few centimetres feel dry. Use well-draining potting mix and filtered or rain water if possible, as tap water with fluoride or chlorine can cause leaf damage. This tropical plant thrives in humidity above 50%, so regular misting or placing it near a humidifier is ideal. Maintain temperatures between 18°C and 24°C, and avoid cold drafts. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertiliser to support lush, vibrant growth.
