Alocasia Black Velvet is an herbaceous perennial grown for its impressive foliage. The leaves are black-green with silver veins and have an overall velvet-like appearance. It typically grows 40 cm tall and the same wide, performing best on a well-drained, frost free, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade. It may die back in winter but will generally regrow again in the spring. Black Velvet is commonly used in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, added to tropical gardens, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like, or mass planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs. It also makes for a wonderful indoor plant.
