Aeschynanthus radicans

Lipstick Plant

Commonly known as the Lipstick Plant, and is a popular indoor plant. It produces cascading stems carrying glossy, dark green leaves. Red flowers are borne as clusters at the growing tips in spring, producing an amazing display. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and about 50 cm wide in the right conditions. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is planted in indirect light or partial shade in a sheltered position with a well-drained growing media. Over-watering will damage this plant as will frost, cold temperatures, and drafty positions. The Lipstick Plant is commonly grown in a hanging basket or allowed to trail over the side of a pot. It is well suited to offices and the like.
