“Black Pagoda” is a variety of the commonly known, Lipstick Plant, and is a popular indoor plant. It produces cascading stems carrying broadly striped, glossy green foliage which are attractive in their own right. Orange flowers with a red tip are borne as clusters at the growing tips in spring, producing an amazing display. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and about 1 m wide in the right conditions. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is planted in indirect light or partial shade in a sheltered position with a well-drained growing media. Over-watering will damage this plant as will frost, cold temperatures, and drafty positions. “Black Pagoda” is commonly grown in a hanging basket or allowed to trail over the side of a pot. It is well suited to offices and the like.
