Commonly known as Myoga Ginger, this plant is grown for both its foliage and flavoursome stems which are commonly used in culinary dishes. It produces multiple upright stems bearing lush, green foliage. This perennial can reach 60 cm tall and spreads to 20 cm wide, though it will colonise a larger area with time. It grows best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It may die back during winter in cooler areas to regrow again when conditions warm. Myoga Ginger is commonly included in herb gardens, maintained in a pot, planted around outdoor living areas, or added to a mixed planting.
