Kniphofia Lemon Fizz Details

Kniphofia Lemon Fizz is a variety of the commonly known, Torchlily or Red Hot Poker, and is grown for its colourful flowers. Stems rise above the foliage through summer and autumn to bare showy clusters of lemon-yellow flowers. The nectar in the flowers attracts birds as do the seed capsules which result from the flowers. This herbaceous perennial grows as a clump, producing thin, strap like, mid-green leaves, and typically grows to 50 cm tall and the same wide. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow well in partial shade but at the expense of prolific flowering. It is also tolerant of dry periods, coastal environments, moderate wind, and frost. Kniphofia Lemon Fizz is a versatile plant that is commonly planted to attract birds, included in borders and mixed plantings, planted around the base of trees, included in riparian plantings, or mass planted either on a bank or as a groundcover. It is a tough and reliable performer with the advantage of being low maintenance.
