Chrysopogon zizanioides Details

Chrysopogon zizanioides, commonly known as Vetiver Grass or Khus Grass, is a large grass native to India. It grows as a clump with lush, dark green foliage and can reach 1.5 m tall and 1 m wide. The foliage is complemented with large flower plumes during summer. The roots of this plant can penetrate up to 4 m and for this reason it is often planted on slopes and riparian areas to help stabilise soils. It grows best along the banks of rivers and streams but is also well-suited to drier soils and warmer climates. It is tolerant of light frost only once established. Chrysopogon zizanioides is commonly planted on banks and along water courses.
