“Tinkerbell” is a dwarf variety of Agapanthus grown for its impressive foliage and flowers. Slender stems rise above the foliage during summer to bear showy clusters of light blue flowers. These are held above the foliage which is variegated cream and green. This herbaceous perennial grows as a tidy clump to about 30 cm tall and 40 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, coastal conditions, some wind, dry periods, and heavy soils. “Tinkerbell” is a versatile plant that can be used as a low maintenance option on drier sites or in situations with poor soil conditions such as clay banks. It is also commonly included in borders and mixed plantings, mass planted as a groundcover, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living areas, or included in cottage gardens. A mass planting is the best way to showcase this plant.
