“Purple Magic” is a taller and striking variety of Agapanthus that features purple-blue flowers through spring and summer. The flowers age to a deeper purple colour. This herbaceous perennial forms a tidy clump of green strap like foliage as it grows to 1 m tall and 1.2 m wide. It grows best in a full sun position on a well-drained site but will also do well in partial shade. This hardy plant is tolerant of dry soils, frost, and cold environments. It is a versatile plant that can be used as a low maintenance option on dry sites or in situations with poor soil conditions such as hot, sunny banks. It is also great as a border plant, mass planting as a groundcover, or including in a mixed plantings with other perennials. A bulk planting is the best way to showcase this plant and it is well suited to cottage gardens.
