“Loch Hope” is a variety of Agapanthus that produces a bounty of trumpet shaped flowers that are light blue with a faint dark stripe through summer. The showy clusters are borne on solid stems above the foliage and contrast nicely with the strap like, dark green foliage. It grows as a clump to about 80 cm tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. Agapanthus are hardy plants and will grow well on heavier soils. They are also tolerant of cool climates, coastal climates, and dry periods. “Loch Hope” is commonly included in border plantings, in mixed plantings, planted around the barbecue area, in cottage gardens, for cut flowers, or grown in a container. A mass planting looks spectacular.
