“Bertsbrook” is a variety of Agapanthus selected for its short stature and lovely flowers. This herbaceous perennial produces beautiful, mid-blue flowers throughout summer. The petals have an interesting darker band that gives the flowers a two-toned appearance. The flowers are borne on slender stems that rise above the dark green foliage. It grows compactly to about 20 cm tall and 30 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of cool climates, moderate frost, dry periods, some wind, and a wide range of soil conditions except extreme wet or dry. “Bertsbrook” is commonly used in borders and mixed plantings, mass planted either as a groundcover or on a bank, used in cottage gardens, or simply maintained in a container. The most stunning displays with this plant are achieved when it is planted en masse.
