Remuremu

Remuremu is the common name for Selliera radicans, a NZ native, herbaceous perennial that forms a tight mat of bright green leaves. The glossy and fleshy leaves are up to 4 cm long and become adorned with small, white flowers in summer. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 75 cm wide, performing best when grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate a wide range of growing conditions including coastal environments. Remuremu is commonly included in borders, used in cottage gardens, planted around the margins of water features, maintained in a container, or planted beside a wall where it can cascade over the edge.

The Selliera radicans ground cover plant is an herbaceous perennial that forms a tight mat of bright green leaves. This NZ native features glossy and fleshy leaves are up to 4 cm long and become adorned with small, white flowers in summer as it grows to 15 cm tall and 75 cm wide. Selliera radicans is a perfect ground cover when mass planted and we recommend a spacing of 30-40 cm between plants so dense coverage is achieved quickly. This spacing will also reduce weeds becoming established.

A Selliera radicans lawn is a great alternative to traditional lawns. This NZ native plant is an herbaceous perennial that forms a tight mat of bright green leaves and grows to about 15 cm tall and 75 cm wide. It can be mown occasionally but is more often just left or mown 1-2 times per year. For a Selliera radicans lawn, the ideal plant spacing is 30-40 cm between plants so dense coverage is achieved quickly. If you intend to mow it, a spacing of 30 cm is recommended so there are plenty of rooted plants in case some are dislodged during mowing.
