Swamp Weed

Swamp weed is the common name for Selliera Farewell Spit, a NZ native, herbaceous perennial that forms a tight mat. The small and rounded, fleshy, bright green leaves are held off very short stems. In summer plants produce small, white flowers amidst the foliage. It typically grows to 15 cm tall and 75 cm wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate a wide range of growing conditions including coastal environments. Swamp Weed is commonly included in borders, included in cottage gardens, planted around the margins of water features, grown in a container, or planted beside a wall where it can cascade over the side.
