It features narrow and dense, bright-green leaves and is commonly called the Cushion Plant because of its appearance. It forms a dense mat and quickly covers the ground like a carpet as it grows to 15 cm tall and 75 cm wide. This herbaceous perennial grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site that does not dry out. In shadier conditions it will tend to be less dense and more open. Scleranthus biflorus is commonly used as a ground cover, included in a rock garden planting, or planted around the base of smaller shrubs.
