Juniperus 'Prince of Wales' grows best in full sun with well drained soil. It tolerates a wide range of soil types provided drainage is good. Water regularly while the plant establishes, then only during extended dry periods. Improve the planting area with compost before planting and apply a quality fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and dense evergreen foliage.

Juniperus 'Prince of Wales' care tips

Juniperus 'Prince of Wales' requires very little care once established. Apply mulch around the base to help retain soil moisture while keeping it clear of the stems. Water during prolonged dry weather and remove any damaged or dead growth as required. Pruning is rarely needed but light trimming can be used to maintain the desired shape or spread.

Juniperus 'Prince of Wales' size, spacing, and growth rate

Juniperus 'Prince of Wales' typically grows about 15 to 30 centimetres tall and spreads 2 to 3 metres wide over time. It has a moderate growth rate and gradually forms a dense evergreen carpet that suppresses weeds and stabilises soil. Space plants about 1.5 to 2 metres apart to achieve effective ground cover at maturity.
