Juniperus conferta Details

Juniperus conferta, commonly known as the Shore Juniper, is an impressive, ground hugging conifer which is often used as a groundcover. It features fine, green-grey foliage held on slender, sprawling stems. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and 2 m wide as a somewhat dense mat. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, moderate wind, coastal conditions, and dry periods but will not cope with heavy or wet soils. Juniperus conferta is commonly used as a groundcover, allowed to spill over the side of a wall or across steps, or planted around the base of larger trees. It also suits being mass planted on a bank or the like.
