Hibbertia serpyllifolia is a ground covering plant grown for its pretty flowers and hardy nature. Masses of bright yellow flowers are borne from spring through summer and sit nicely amidst the mid-green foliage. The leaves are held on slender stems that creep across the ground. This perennial grows as a low and spreading mound to about 30 cm tall and 1 m wide, and performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal environments and extended dry periods but does require frost protection. Hibbertia serpyllifolia is commonly used as an attractive groundcover, included in rock gardens, maintained in a container, or planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like.
