Genista pilosa is a handsome groundcover plant which is grown for its pretty flowers and fine foliage. The flowers are golden yellow and literally transform the plant during spring and summer. The foliage is made up of small green leaves and it typically grows to 45 cm tall and 1.2 m wide. Best flowering performance is achieved when it is planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It tends to become a more open plant when planted in shady conditions. It will tolerate coastal conditions and light frost. Genista pilosa is commonly used as an attractive ground cover, in borders, or planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs.
