Deutzia Nikko is a popular, deciduous shrub due to its outstanding flowering and form. This low growing plant boasts an impressive display of small white flowers through spring and summer. These are held among the gently arching stems which support the lush, deep green foliage. As autumn progresses, the leaves develop red and purple tones before falling, though in warmer areas it can remain evergreen. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and 1 m wide, and performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is hardy to moderate frost but does require good moisture during dry periods. Deutzia Nikko is well suited for using as a groundcover, adding to mixed and border plantings, growing in a container, or allowing to cascade over a low wall or onto a path.
