How to grow Callistemon FireBrand

To grow Callistemon 'Firebrand', choose a sunny location with well-drained soil, as this cultivar thrives in full sun and tolerates a range of soil types, including clay and sandy soils. It is drought-tolerant once established but benefits from occasional deep watering during dry spells to encourage lush growth and flowering. Plant it in a spot with good air circulation and space for it to reach its typical mature size of around 1.5–2 metres high and wide. Mulching around the base helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a tidy shape and promote more blooms. Fertilise annually in spring with a low-phosphorus fertiliser to support healthy growth and prolific flowering. Firebrand is frost-tolerant and attracts birds and pollinators with its vibrant red brush-like flowers, making it an excellent choice for native gardens, hedges, or feature planting.
