Banksia Coastal Cushion is a low-growing shrub that is favoured for its foliage and flowers. It produces orange-yellow flower spikes up to 30 cm long from winter through until summer. These are not only interesting but are great for attracting birds. The dark green leaves serve as a pleasant backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 50 cm tall and 1.5 m wide, though can be trimmed as necessary. This evergreen performs best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of coastal environments, dry periods, and frost. Banksia spinulosa Coastal Cushion is commonly included in mixed plantings, used as a groundcover, planted to attract birds, or used anywhere a hardy and attractive plant is required. It looks amazing when allowed to spill over a wall or when mass planted on a bank.
