Ajuga reptans Jungle Beauty, commonly known as Bugleweed, Common Bugle, or Carpet Bugle, is a quick growing, ground covering plant that features dark green leaves tinged with purple. It spreads by surface runners in the same way as a strawberry plant and can spread almost indefinitely. In spring, it produces showy clusters of blue flowers on stems that can rise 30 cm above the foliage. This Common Bugle typically grows to 20 cm tall and will cover a 1 m wide area in less than two years. It grows best on a well-drained site that does not dry out in either full sun or partial shade. It is frost hardy and generally trouble-free. Ajuga reptans Jungle Beauty is a great variety for covering large areas quickly and is often used in borders, allowed to spill out over a path, or maintained in a container.
