The Chocolate Chip Bugleweed, scientifically known as Ajuga reptans Chocolate Chip, is a variety of Ajuga grown for its dwarf habit and chocolate coloured foliage. It forms a spreading mound of lush leaves which become adorned with showy spikes of blue-purple flowers in spring. It typically grows to about 10 cm tall and 20 cm wide but will spread to cover a larger area in time. This evergreen Bugleweed requires a well-drained site with good summer moisture to perform. It is frost hardy, tolerant of coastal environments, and can be grown in full sun or partial shade.
