Abies koreana Green Carpet is a dwarf variety of Abies grown for its cushion like foliage and short stature. This evergreen conifer produces short, stubby branches with short, bright green, needle-like foliage. The foliage will age to dark green and in spring it can have a two-toned appearance. During summer it produces small, purple cones which are held upright along the branches. It grows slowly as a spreading mound to about 60 cm tall and 1.8 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. Abies koreana Green Carpet is an interesting conifer that is well suited to adding to a mixed planting, using as a groundcover, or including in a rock garden.
