Uncinia rubra, commonly known as the New Zealand Red Hook Sedge, is a NZ native ornamental grass grown for its striking foliage. It grows as a clump and produces fine, red leaves that have a gentle arch. This evergreen typically grows to 30 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. The stunning appearance of Uncinia rubra makes it ideal for planting around ponds, growing in a container, including in a border planting, adding to rock gardens, or using to contrast with other plant colours. A mass planting looks spectacular and certainly gives a rewarding display.
