Uncinia Red, commonly known as Red Hook Sedge, is a NZ native ornamental grass is grown for its striking red foliage. It grows as a clump and produces fine, dark red leaves that have a gentle arch. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, wind, coastal environments, heavy soils, and dry periods. The stunning appearance of Uncinia Red makes it ideal for planting around ponds, growing in a container, for border plantings, rock gardens, or to contrast with other plant colours. A mass planting looks spectacular and certainly gives a rewarding display.
