Lachnagrostis billardierei, commonly known as Sand Wind Grass, is a NZ native, perennial grass with dark green leaf blades. It typically grows in sandy soils, primarily along or near coastlines where it forms distinctive circular tufts. Straw-coloured flowers adorn the plant during summer. It typically grows to 30-60 cm tall and the same wide. Lachnagrostis billardierei is commonly added to a mixed planting, mass planted on a bank, or used to help stabilise sand dunes.
