Eleocharis acuta, commonly known as Dwarf Spike Rush, is a NZ native wetland plant which grows to about 60 cm tall. It forms dense stands of upright, cylindrical, green stems. It is often found along the margins of fresh water or in saturated soil. Eleocharis acuta is commonly planted around ponds, in riparian and wetland areas, or used for stabilising a stream bank. It can be grown in shallow water up to 30 cm deep.
