Chionochloa conspicua (Snowgrass)

Hunangamoho, Snowgrass

Chionochloa conspicua, commonly known as Snowgrass or Snow Tussock, is a hardy, NZ native, ornamental grass. It grows as a large tussock with long, arching, mid-green leaves, tinged with red-brown, to a height of about 1.6 m and a width of about 1.2 m. Chionochloa conspicua is often used for wetland revegetation. It is also very effective in extensive gardens or for planting around water features such as ponds and streams. That said, Snowgrass does make a fabulous addition to a garden.
