How to grow Carex raotest in NZ

Carex raotest grows best in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to most NZ climates. Plant into free draining soil, though it will also tolerate heavier soils that remain moist. Choose a position with good airflow and space to develop naturally. Water regularly during establishment, then reduce watering once the plant is settled. This sedge is tolerant of coastal conditions and light frost.

Carex raotest care tips

Carex raotest is very low maintenance once established. Water during extended dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Old or untidy foliage can be trimmed back in late winter or early spring to refresh the plant and encourage new growth. Feeding is rarely required, though a light application of general fertiliser in spring can support stronger growth.

Carex raotest size, spacing, and growth rate

Carex raotest typically grows to around 50 to 70 cm tall and approximately 50 to 60 cm wide. It has a moderate growth rate and forms tidy clumps over time. Space plants about 50 cm apart for mass planting or border use. Its size makes it suitable for both residential gardens and larger landscape projects.

Landscaping uses for Carex raotest

Carex raotest is ideal for adding texture and movement to NZ landscapes. It works well in mass plantings, along pathways, beside water features, and in native or contemporary garden designs. The fine foliage pairs well with shrubs and flowering perennials. This sedge is commonly used in commercial landscapes and low maintenance garden schemes.
