Armeria maritima Morning Star White, commonly known as Thrift, is a compact, low-growing plant which forms a dense, mounded tuft of grass-like, dark green leaves about 10 cm long. Tiny, white flowers are borne in spring atop slender stems that rise above the foliage in the form of a ball. In the wild, Thrift commonly grows in coastal areas where few other plants can grow well, hence the common name. It typically grows to 20 cm tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of light frost, coastal environments, and periods of dry.
