Aciphylla squarrosa is a grass that forms a dense cluster of spiky leaves. The narrow blue-green leaves grow to about 1 m long and have serrated leaf edges. In summer, plants produce yellow flowers which are carried on a stalk up 1 m high. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best in a full sun position on a well-drained site. It will tolerate shaded conditions but tend to become more open. It also tolerates coastal environments, frost, cool climates, and periods of dry.
